A Journey Into Unfamiliar Terrain

A Journey Into Unfamiliar Terrain

Railway suppliers who work in remote areas of Canada face unique challenges. Getting to and from an isolated location can have a significant impact on planning and resources.

Jeff Burrows (Operations Manager for Rhomberg Sersa North America) knows firsthand the challenges of working on rail projects in remote locations across the country. “Just getting to the job site can be a headache. You’re dealing with logging roads or switchbacks, inclement weather and a plethora of other factors. At times, the only way into a particular location is by rail, so organizing hirail trucks to-and-from is often necessary,” he said.

“insidetrack”, magazine of the Canadian Association of Railway Suppliers, reports about these challenges and ways to manage them.
